Coleraine’s Jenna McCorkell took an impressive sixth place in the Finlandia Trophy.
COLERAINE'S Jenna McCorkell has just returned with yet another great result from the Finlandia Trophy in Finland taking sixth overall.
Skating against two of Europe's medallists in the ladies event earlier this year Jenna increased her overall score by almost ten points from her previous international in Obersdorf, Germany. Commenting on this result a delighted Jenna commented: "Everything went well. I had the best performances technically in years! I had a great free skate, I completed five triple jumps and two double axels.
“It's been a great start to the season for me with a top five finish in Oberstdorf which gave me a lot of confidence for this competition in Finland where some of the world's top skaters competed.
“I was up against the current European silver and bronze medallists - Sarah Meier and Laura Lepisto, a former Euuropean silver medallist - Susanna Poykio and the competition was won by one of Japan's top skater.
“I am very happy with the result and I feel that I am progressing more and more at competitions and I hope to continue the season and skate as best as I can! I am training hard and look forward to my next event, Skate Canada Grand Prix. It's an invitational event where 12 ladies are selected to skate in and I'm excited about this. I love to skate in Canada there is always a great atmosphere and the public are brilliant too."
